African Union Gender Observatory

Achieving Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment is considered a critical success factor towards realizing Agenda 2063. To achieve this, in 2019, the Women, Gender and Development Directorate (WGDD), which has now moved to the Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (WGYD) established the African Union Gender Observatory (AUGO), which is an Online Knowledge Management Platform (OKPM). The Platform will be used to monitor the implementation of regional and international instruments, including but not limited to the Maputo Protocol, the Solemn Declaration on Gender Equality in Africa (SDGEA), Agenda 2063, resolutions and declarations adopted by various regional and international bodies as well as COVID-19 gender-sensitive and responsive interventions.
